Teaching
I have been teaching the cello for more than 40 years to a wide range of students at state and private schools, music schools and colleges and privately at home.
My teaching is based on my own method influenced by the many teachers and teaching methods that I have studied. It has become very successful in bringing out the best in each pupil whatever their ability. Many of my pupils have developed into outstanding cellists and musicians, some progressing to famous Music Schools such as the Menuhin, Purcell and Chethams schools of Music as well as the Royal Academies and Colleges in the UK.
I have a large group of adult pupils ranging from beginners to advanced (my oldest so far being 86 years old!) but also specialise in teaching very young children who usually start lessons at around 4 years of age. I also teach children with learning disabilities.
We have a pupils' concert twice a year where pupils perform and everyone can come and watch. These concerts are a valuable opportunity for children to play for an audience, help them to feel confident about their own playing and enable their family to see the progress they have made. Pupils also perform every year at the Norfolk County Music Festival www.norfolk-music-festival.org where they are adjudicated by a highly-trained specialist string adjudicator.
For children there is the possibility of half-hour, three quarter hour or hour-long lessons, with some pupils coming twice a week. Adults may wish to come fortnightly when they are more advanced.
